KAMLOOPS - The Thompson Region Division of Family Practice wants to know how hard it is to find a doctor in our region and is asking people to fill out a short survey to help gather your thoughts.
The survey is part of the G.P. for Me program, a provincial initiative to help match the thousands of British Columbians searching for a family doctor with those accepting new patients. The program was deemed successful in Prince George, Cowichan Valley and White Rock-South Surrey where it matched up about 9,400 patients with doctors during a test period.
The local chapter is now asking people in the Thompson region to complete the five minute survey, which asks 17 questions based around whether you have a family doctor and if not, how long you’ve been looking as well as how often you use doctor services. The survey will help guide the development of the program here.
The assessment period including the survey, ends Wednesday with the planning phase taking place over summer. A proposal will then be developed and the implementation of the program is expected to take place by March 2016.
