Social media astronaut star to give lecture at TRU

Former Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will present a free lecture at TRU in October.

KAMLOOPS - The singing, tweeting Canadian astronaut who engaged earthlings from space will present a free lecture at the university in October.

Ontario native Commander Chris Hadfield posted videos and photos online from his adventures in space and retired in July after 21 years of service.

He opened the world's eyes to space after uploading videos to YouTube, answering questions from how to wash your hands in space to controlling the International Space Station. This video shows him brushing his teeth in space.

His take on David Bowie's song 'Space Oddity' recorded on board the International Space Station has garnered over 17-million hits on YouTube.

Now he is stopping in Kamloops to to make two presentations. The first to TRU science students, faculty, students from School District 73 and TRU science alumni, and the second to the general public.

His presentation entitled 'An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth' will be held in the Grand Hall on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
