KAMLOOPS — A Kelowna man awaiting a retrial for the manslaughter of a Kelowna college student is now walking free on bail.

Last week, Neil George Snelson, 47, was granted bail and Infotel News has learned, he provided the $75,000 and was released to a home in Lake Country to await trial.

He will walk into Kamloops Supreme Court next week to try finding another date for his trial.

With his sister and brother-in-law as his jailers, Snelson will be under house arrest at their lake home in the Central Okanagan.

The conditions of Snelson's bail include an obligation to be at home from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. He is permitted to leave only under supervision or if he's going to court or work.

He is not allowed to possess weapons, including firearms and cannot use drugs or alcohol.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 16 to set a date for trial.
