KAMLOOPS - Fire crews were called to the Domtar mill last night, but the small fire was quickly dealt with.

Around 8:46 p.m., Jan. 4, Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to a call at the Domtar mill with four trucks and 14 firefighters. Upon arrival they met up with Domtar’s own emergency response team and found a small dust fire, Platoon Capt. Steve Kilmartin says.

“There was a small dust fire between two metal clad walls,” he says.

The small fire was quickly knocked down. There were no injuries during the incident.

The cause of the fire and extent of the damage is not currently known and is under investigation.
