Shane Koyczan, Christmas craft fair, curling on schedule this weekend in Penticton

PENTICTON - This weekend you can check out a performance by Penticton’s own poet laureate, watch a world curling event or go shopping at the largest Christmas craft fair in the South Okanagan.

Shane Koyczan is home for a performance at the Cleland Theatre. The internationally known spoken word artist, poet and author makes a stop in his hometown as part of his 2017 fall tour on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Tickets are available at a cost of $35 at the Penticton Recreation Centre, 325 Power St., or by phone at 250-490-2426, ext: 6. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information see Koyczan’s website.

Penticton plays host to some of the top curling teams in the world this weekend. The Ashley Home Story Curling Classic is taking place today, Nov. 3 through to Monday, Nov. 6, part of the World Curling Tour.

Start times for today and Saturday are 8:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 3:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Sunday draw start times are 8:15 and 11:45 a.m. with a tie-breaker if necessary at 3:15 p.m. Quarter finals start at 7:15 p.m. Monday, with semi-finals at 8:15 and the final at 11:45 a.m.

More than 165 vendors will be participating in Penticton’s 21st annual Okanagan Makers Christmas Craft Fair and Sustainable Living Show on tomorrow and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

The show, which takes place at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, includes artisans, and food producers carrying unique products that showcase local talent in the largest Christmas craft show in the South Okanagan. Admission is $4 at the door.
