The trial of an Osoyoos man accused of disfiguring a woman's genitals during an alleged sexual assault began in Penticton Tuesday.

Brian Douglas Louie faces two charges including aggravated sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm. The incident occurred May 20, 2012 in Oliver at a home on Sage Rd. on the Osoyoos Indian band reserve.

The Crown imposed a publication ban on identifying the victim, a 26-year-old Penticton woman, or any evidence that directs attention to her identity.
