Security guard bitten at North Kamloops mall by shoplifter

KAMLOOPS - A woman is in police custody today after biting a mall security guard.

RCMP says at around 2:30 p.m., July 25, officers were called to a shoplifting incident at the Dollar Tree in Northills Shopping Centre. A security guard tried to intervene with the female shoplifter and was attacked.

“A loss prevention officer attempted to stop her and she bit him,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says.

Police attended the scene and arrested the woman. Assault charges are being recommended.

The man who was biten was not seriously injured and didn’t need to go to hospital.
