Screenwriter shares secrets of the trade

KAMLOOPS - The Thompson-Nicola Regional District’s Library System is hosting a two-part writing workshop by B.C. screenwriter Erin McMullan, called Behind the Scenes of Dramatic Writing, at the Kamloops Library on Wednesday, May 20 and 27, at 7 p.m.

The workshop is open to anyone with a script in progress, a story they wish to adapt, or even with just the inkling of idea. McMullan will explain the difference between writing for screen, TV, stage, or radio during the workshop, which will break down into two parts:
- May 20: A discussion of the basics of each different form, how to get started, and how take your work to the next level (50 people maximum.)
- May 27: An in-depth workshop where writers can bring their projects for feedback, group discussion, and development (25 people maximum.)

McMullan’s writing credits include five years as writer-editor for the TV high school quiz show Reach for the Top. More recently, her work was heard in the Ewan McGregor-narrated IMAX film Humpback Whales 3D.

The event is free but sign-up is recommended. Please contact the library at 250-372-5145 to reserve a spot.
