Scooter Rodeo a great way to learn skills and safety tips

The City of Vernon Community Policing Office, in partnership with the RCMP, Schuburt Centre and Southward Medical Supplies, will be hosting a Scooter Rodeo on Thursday, June 5 from 1-4 pm at the Schubert Centre. This course is free of charge for individuals or families that already have a scooter or are considering a scooter purchase in the near future.

“Scooters are great way to stay socially active if you are having mobility challenges,” said Vernon Community Policing Coordinator, Rachael Zubick. “However, like anything else, it is important to know how to be safe and keep others safe while you are using the scooter.”

Participants will learn about scooter safety, the rules of the road and basic maintenance, as well as get a chance to test their expertise on the practical skills course.

“The scooter safety course is fun way to make sure getting around town is as safe as possible for scooter owners,” said Zubick.

For further information or to register please call the Vernon Community Policing Office at 250-550-7840.
