Satisfy your soil with OgoGrow and GlenGrow

KELOWNA - Everything is coming up roses, daisies and tulips. The recent rain might have put a crimp in your outdoor plans, but it’s helping to green up Kelowna – and luscious greens start with healthy soil.

The City of Kelowna uses OgoGrow and GlenGrow to enrich the soil in City-maintained flower beds. OgoGrow and GlenGrow are both locally made compost.

Since the City established a bylaw regulating the use of cosmetic, non-essential pesticides on residential properties, organic compost has become a gardener’s best friend. The compost improves the structure of the soil as it provides nutrition and increases nutrient retention. It also helps to balance pH levels and microbial populations which will reduce plant diseases.

If pesky weeds are taking over your yard, compost can help with that too. Weeds prefer dry, compacted soil with low fertility. Spread OgoGrow or GlenGrow as a topdressing and soil amendment to grow a dense and healthy lawn.

The compost is easily mixed in with soil and is suitable for all types of greenery, from potted plants to vegetable and flower gardens.

OgoGrow is a joint venture between the Cities of Kelowna and Vernon. It is available for purchase at the Glenmore Landfill and most local retail nurseries. GlenGrow is only available at the Glenmore Landfill.
