UPDATE: Manhunt in Vernon leads to arrests in Kelowna

RCMP members launched a manhunt this morning after responding to a report of shots fired in downtown Vernon. Officers responded with a canine unit and a helicopter team.

VERNON - RCMP have four people in custody after members launched a manhunt this morning in response to a report of shots fired in downtown Vernon. 

According to Global Okanagan, police contained an area near Polson Park to search for three suspects near the Green Valley Motel.

Close to noon, plainclothes Kelowna RCMP officers spotted the suspect vehicle - a green Chevrolet Cavalier near the 1000 block of Glenmore Road.

The vehicle was stopped in Kelowna through the efforts of several agencies including RCMP Air Services, police service dogs and the street enforcement team. A 34-year-old Vernon man, 23-year-old Surrey man and a 28-year-old Toronto woman were arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Another man suspected to be connected to the incident was arrested in Vernon . Police believe all parties are known to each other. There are no reported injuries in relation to the gunshots.

The case remains under investigation. Police are looking to identify others who may have been involved.
