KAMLOOPS – No arrests have been made as RCMP search for suspects who tried to steal a cash machine in Kamloops early this morning.

RCMP say at about 4 a.m., Oct. 4, two or three men were caught on surveillance video breaking into the Petro-Canada gas station in Rayleigh.

The video shows the men, wearing masks and dark clothing, arrive at the store in a dark-coloured SUV, according to a RCMP media release. Two of the suspects break a window to get inside and then try to remove the cash machine.

“When they failed to remove the cash portion of the ATM, the suspects got back into their vehicle and fled the scene,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

Police did not release images from the video.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
