KELOWNA – An argument escalated into a fight early Sunday morning, and now a man is in hospital recovering from stab wounds and a Kelowna man is in jail.

RCMP say officers responded to a 911 call about a stabbing at around 4:47 a.m., Jan. 8, at a home in the 1200 block of Belgo Road in Kelowna.

Police found a man in a bedroom with a stab wound, according to a RCMP media release.

“Preliminary information from witnesses at the scene suggest that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal argument, which quickly escalated to a physical confrontation where the victim was allegedly stabbed by the suspect,” Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release.

The victim was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital, underwent emergency surgery and is currently in stable condition.

RCMP arrested Corey Wayne Fawcett, 27, at the scene of the stabbing.

He is being held in custody and appeared in court today, Jan. 10.
