Rainbow crosswalk for Kelowna General Hospital

Rainbow crosswalk at Kelowna General Hospital

Kelowna General Hospital has an all-new colourful crosswalk.

The hospital put in a rainbow crosswalk between the parkade and the Rose Avenue entrance. The rainbow colours are a symbol of 2LGBTQIA+ pride.

A Reddit user shared a picture of the crosswalk to express their excitement. The post was met with a lot of support from fellow allies. It was also met with support from people who had been worried about the visibility of the crosswalk.

The post also attracted many hateful and sarcastic comments some of which were not allowed by Reddit for their content while other comments were simply blocked for the users had negatively interacted with other posts prior.

The hospital has a history of support for the 2LGBTQIA+ community. It has pride stickers on some of their doors, and it has offered free counselling for the community as well as for BIPOC youth in Kelowna. BIPOC stands for black, Indigenous and other people of colour.
