VERNON – A car crash took out a power pole in Vernon this morning knocking out the power to thousands in Okanagan Landing.
Mary Anne Coules with B.C. Hydro says the power went out to about 4,500 customers at around 7:05 a.m.
Crews had the electricity restored to about 3,000 around 9 a.m. and Coules estimated the power would be back on for the rest by 12:30 p.m.
The outage covered an area west of Highway 97 including Okanagan Avenue, Okanagan Landing Road, Tronson Road and Eastside Road.
Coules says Hydro crews had to wait for RCMP to finish their investigation into the car crash before they could replace the damage power pole.
