KAMLOOPS - The race for the U.S. presidency has caused all sorts of commotion south of the border.

The wackiest reality TV show doesn't even touch the levels of drama that our neighbours to the south are dealing with right now.

As Canadians, we are innocent bystanders to this madness, for the most part. So the only thing left to do now is to wait, and watch.

Here are some places in Kamloops to watch the U.S. election results come in tomorrow night, Nov. 8:

Match Eatery & Public House
According to their Facebook page, the Aberdeen pub located in Cascades Casino is offering a special promotion on election night. If Donald Trump wins, they will give you your bill in equal amount slot play in the casino. There is a huge TV in the pub side and plenty of televisions in every corner of the restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

On the Rocks
On the rocks is another lively Aberdeen pub with plenty of seating and a big screen TV high in the centre of the room. They do not require reservations. There's a pool table if the ballot counting gets a bit dry.

Duffy's Pub
The election will be on TV and if there are a lot of people requesting it, the sound can be switched on during key moments. "Duffy's is a local watering hole with a lot of people who are open with voicing opinions about everything," bar manager Travis Struss says. Duffy's is definitely a smaller venue, so good for a more low-key viewing experience.

Pogue Mahone
Pogue Mahone is a popular pub in the Brocklehurst neighborhood of Kamloops. Staff says there are plenty of TVs and they are planning to televise the election on some, but not all of them.

Frick & Frack
The quirky downtown pub with a huge beer selection is another great option. The staff say walk-ins are welcome as Tuesday nights aren't overly busy.

Staff at these restaurants say they will tune their TVs to the American election returns if they get requests:

  • Dirty Jersey, North Shore
  • Carlos O'Bryan's pub, downtown.
  • Fox'n Hounds pub, Sahali.
  • The Office Pub & Grill, Valleyview.
  • Noble Pig (TV but no sound), downtown.
  • Shark Club Kamloops, downtown.

Many other local restaurants and pubs sounded open to the election coverage on their big screen TVs if customers request it. So if you find yourself at a local restaurant or pub and are dying to watch the election coverage, most places will likely agree change the channel for you.
