Penticton RCMP nab two suspects after stolen truck chase

A strong police presence was noticed around Skaha Lake Marine around noon today, Nov. 23, 2016, as police looked for suspects believed to have stolen a truck.

PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP have two people in custody in connection with the theft of a truck today.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says in an email police chased two men in the Eastside Road area just before noon, Nov. 23, after a report of a stolen truck.

Police arrested a man near the Skaha Lake Marina but a second man got away, he says.

Two women who showed up in a truck in an effort to pick up the suspects were taken into custody as well. One was released from custody without charges while the second, a 43-year-old Summmerland woman, was held. She is facing charges of driving while prohibited and possession of a controlled substance.

The truck the two women were in had Yukon plates and was uninsured.

Wrigglesworth says the man in custody is known to police and will be in court tomorrow.
