PENTICTON - Members of Penticton RCMP’s Targeted Enforcement Unit put a known offender behind bars after some routine surveillance work in Penticton last week.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says the officers observed David Goulet, 41, entering Mike’s Pawnshop several times on the afternoon of April 25.

Known to be a prohibited driver, police followed Goulet after he left the pawn shop. Goulet was observed by police swapping positions in the vehicle with his female companion prior to police stopping him.

Wrigglesworth says Goulet was arrested on a breach. A search of his person revealed $1,693 in cash, brass knuckles, and a soap dish containing 16 grams of methamphetamine, 12.7 grams of cocaine, and 4.83 grams of heroin.

A search of the truck revealed a number of tools matching descriptions of those reported missing in a break and enter in Princeton on April 23.

He was charged with breach, possession of a prohibited weapon and three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, and driving while prohibited, Wrigglesworth says.

Goulet has a lengthy criminal record with a notable number of property offences.

He appeared in court on April 27 where he was denied bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 3.
