KELOWNA – A pedestrian was hit and injured while crossing Cooper Road by Orchard Park Mall Tuesday afternoon.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Bill Parmar says the middle-aged driver was turning left out of The Bay entrance at 3:30 p.m. when she hit a woman who was crossing west to Orchard Plaza.
“At this point I’ll say minor injuries,” he says. “(It was) low impact.”
Witnesses on the scene told police that the crosswalk was “fully engaged” meaning she had pushed the button and was cleared to cross.
A witness on the west side of Cooper Road says he saw the accident happen.
“She kind of rolled down the side of the car and went down on the ground,” he says.
An investigation is underway but Parmar says charges are unlikely.
