KELOWNA - Parkinson Recreation Centre’s main pool remains closed due to water clarity. Swim lessons and aquatic fitness classes are cancelled this afternoon. Those customers affected will be contacted by Parkinson Recreation Centre staff. Refunds for the cancelled classes will be credited back to customers’ accounts.

“A mechanical issue with our filtration system has affected pool water clarity,” said Jim Gabriel, Divisional Director for Active Living and Culture. “Pool water clarity does not pose any health concerns for those who used the pool, but it does pose lifeguarding concerns. We’ve had to close the pool for swimmer safety.”

Maintenance staff are working on the issue and will resolve it as soon as possible. A reopening time will not be established until the full mechanical inspection is complete.

The children’s pool, whirlpool and steam room remain open.

Updates will be provided on the City’s website or swimmers can call the Parkinson Recreation Centre at 250-469-8800.
