One dead after an altercation in Penticton

A person died after an altercation in Penticton early this morning.

Penticton RCMP were called about an altercation between several people on Lakeshore Drive around 2 a.m. on May 12, according to a press release from RCMP.

When police officers arrived they found someone seriously injured, they died later on.

“The investigation is in its early stages, with numerous RCMP resources assisting,” Cpl. James Grandy said in the release. “Police are investigating this as a criminal act, and want to reassure the public that it appears targeted.”

“As officers continue their investigation, we’re asking the public to avoid Lakeshore Drive at Power Street, and the Skate Park in Riverside Park,” Grandy said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
