KAMLOOPS - Today is the first council meeting since Coun. Donovan Cavers was called out by his colleagues for a personal attack fuelled by the Ajax mine debate. Since then, Cavers has refused to back down while a vocal minority shared their opinions of his tactics.

Cavers was upset with a response from the province's Environmental Assessment Office refusing to hold more community meetings because the proposed mine changed its site plan.

“I feel Mr. Bailey is almost as incompetent as the (Environmental Assessment Office) seems to be,” he said of the project director.

Coun. Arjun Singh asked Cavers to apologize and Mayor Peter Milobar called Cavers' comment a 'character assassination' on Bailey. Cavers stuck by his guns at the meeting and continued to on social media that night as others either applauded him for his courage to stick with his conviction, or criticized his lack of 'common sense.'

Here was how Kamloops reacted on social media.
