LUMBY – The body of a man who has been missing since April 1 was found in the North Okanagan on Friday.

RCMP say the body of Bruce Van Haastrecht, 57, was discovered Friday, April 14 by a cabin owner at Mabel Lake near Lumby who was opening his property for the season.

Bruce Van Hasstrecht's body was found on April 14, 2017.

"Upon approaching his property he located a male body on the ground," Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a media release.

An investigation by the RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service determined foul play was not involved in Van Haastrecht's death, Moskaluk says.

He was a seasonal resident of the Okanagan and owned a cabin in the 3500 block of Mabel Lake.

His family lives in Ontario and they have been notified of his death.

After he went missing, crews searched the area by ground, helicopter and boat, but came up short.
