Mill Road residents in Naramata facing evacuation notice

FILE PHOTO - Erosion of Mill Road in Naramata has resulted in the regional district issuing an evacuation notice for 11 properties today, June 8, 2017.

PENTICTON - The regional district has issued a state of local emergency and an evacuation order, this time for residents of a Naramata neighbourhood.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen issued the state of emergency and evacuation order for 11 properties along Mill Road in Naramata this afternoon, June 8, after high water began to erode the roadway, which provides the only access to the affected properties.

The evacuation order has been issued to the following properties and homes on Mill Road:

  • 4620
  • 4625
  • 4640
  • 4765
  • 4775
  • 4785
  • 4805
  • 4835
  • 4845
  • 4855
  • 4865

Property owners are asked to report to the regional district’s emergency operations centre located at 101 Martin St. in Penticton.

Affected residents should register as soon as possible by calling the regional district emergency support services at 250-809-6561, or 1-877-611-3737.

A water main on Mill Road has also been affected by the flooding, which will be shut off, affecting five more properties north of 4395 Mill Road. These properties are not under an evacuation order, but will be without water.

  • 4615
