CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – A steady progression in his golf game has led James Casorso to be honoured with a selection as a CCAA All-Canadian, he recieved the prestigious award at the nationals awards banquet on the eve of the 2016 PING CCAA golf national championships at the Fox Meadow Golf Club in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Student-athletes are selected as an All-Canadian based on their performance and their contribution to their sport and their team, and Immaculata Regional High School's James Casorso was among the 10 male golfers across the nation to receive the award.
This season in the league’s four tournaments the fourth year management student steadily improved finishing 13th, 4th, 1st, and 2nd. For his week three win he was awarded the PACWEST Athlete of the Week. A Provincial All-Star last season James also has shown continually improvement over his four years and this is his second straight trip to the national championship. He finished tied for 15th at the tournament last fall in Chilliwack.
Clutching up James shot a 66 in the leagues final round to capture the individual silver medal, the 66 was tied for the lowest round of the season in the conference. James was the only PACWEST golfer to shoot three rounds under 70 over the season.
James carded the low score for his team in all four tournaments, as the Heat finished tied for fourth place in the PACWEST, just four strokes out of what would have been their fourth straight Provincial bronze medal.
James, now in his fourth year on the team, has grown into a leader on the men’s golf team seizing the role over the past two years on the fairway and in the clubhouse, his work ethic and commitment to getting better is a strong example for his fellow golfers. James is committed to athletics overall at UBC Okanagan, after the season he supports the Heat by assisting with other varsity events.
Two other Heat golfers have earned All-Canadian status Will Deck in 2013, and Cody Bell in 2011.
Teeing off on Wednesday morning on the first day Casorso will try and bring home an individual medal for UBC Okanagan, the first male golfer to do so, the best individual result for a UBC Okanagan male golfer at a national championship was Jordan Krulicki (4th, Oct-2009, Windsor, ON).
For UBC Okanagan on the women's side individually at the national championships there have been a number of medals. Starting with Carolyn Lee last fall with the individual gold medal, Lee again in 2014 with a bronze, and Alana Kent in 2011 with a silver medal.
