KAMLOOPS - A man was arrested last night after firing off rifle rounds and making threats to harm others.

Witnesses say the 61-year-old man was agitated, threatening to hurt people and firing shots into the air. RCMP reported no injuries.

Staff Sgt. Edward Preto said early this morning in a media release that police were called out to a trailer park at approximately 9:37 p.m., on the 1700 Block of Ord Road.

Preto says police received several 911 calls from concerned residents.

Police recovered a rifle and four empty cartridges.

The man is being held in police custody pending his court appearance.
