Man accused of online luring, child pornography will stand trial

Vernon Courthouse

VERNON - A Vernon man accused of possessing child pornography and luring children has been ordered to stand trial.

David Willerth, born in 1974, faces 25 charges including making or publishing child pornography, communicating via computer to to lure children under 16, and invitation to sexual touching.

After a five-hour preliminary inquiry June 19, the Supreme Court Judge found there was enough evidence to compel Willerth to stand trial.

In November, Willerth pleaded guilty to two of his charges—possession of child pornography and luring a child under 16 over the computer.

He was arrested last summer following a two week investigation between Vernon RCMP and the B.C. Integrated Child Exploitation unit. Computers and other items were seized from his 47 Avenue home in Vernon.
