KAMLOOPS - One of the key fundraisers for the local SPCA branch is less than three weeks away and organizers say they have faith the people of Kamloops will once again come through for the shelter.
“They always seem to go smoothly, you have to have faith,” Michelle Virdee says of fundraisers. “The people of Kamloops are always so supportive of the SPCA.”
The annual Paws for a Cause fundraiser, which has people and their dogs flocking to Pioneer Park for a pancake breakfast, walk, games, demonstrations, nail trims and pictures, will take place Sunday, Sept. 7. Virdee says they hope to have 100 people participate and to raise $20,000.
“We tend to have a very consistent crowd, and they all have a great time,” she says. “We’re having a pub night a little later in the month as well (Sept. 21 at Fox’n Hounds.)”
People can register for the walk online and then can collect online pledges, but you can still do it the old fashioned way and use paper pledge sheets if you prefer. People can also register to just do the walk if they want to be involved without collecting pledges.
