Christmas in our Community is the second annual event sponsored by Kelowna’s Gospel Mission and Powers Creek Community Church, to help bring Christmas to West Kelowna’s friends and neighbours.

It is being held at Westbank Lions Community Centre, 2466 Main Street, West Kelowna, beginning at 5:30pm on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

They will be serving a traditional dinner, with live music and entertainment, plus crafts for those who plan to attend. Kelowna’s Gospel Mission will provide and prepare the food while Powers Creek Community Church will provide the space, entertainment and volunteers.  The Central Okanagan Food Bank Westside helped to distribute tickets to the community.

Loraine Taylor, Director of Outreach for Powers Creek Community Church said, “This has become an event where the whole family can get involved from setting up the hall, to working in the kitchen, bringing food to our guests, bussing tables, and/or hosting a table by sitting with those who attend and sharing a meal with them.  Our hearts desire is to share the love and light of Jesus.”

Randy Benson, Executive Director of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission, said, “This is the second dinner we are putting on with our community partners and we expect to serve over 200 meals.  It is very humbling to be able to reach out to people who may be lonely, without family or unable to afford a Christmas dinner. This is what Christmas is all about.”

Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s needs extend beyond Christmas and any help is greatly appreciated.  Please contact the Gospel Mission to donate, volunteer or give an in-kind gift.
