KELOWNA - Family had to subdue a 58-year-old woman after she allegedly attacked her 70-year-old husband with an ‘edged weapon’ while he slept.
Shortly after midnight, April 18, RCMP were called to a violent family disturbance in the 4600-block of Highway 33 East in the Joe Rich area.
Family told officers the woman had to be subdued after stabbing her spouse while he may have been sleeping, Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release.
The man was alert but deteriorating when emergency crews arrived. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, though O’Donaghey says they are believed to be non-life threatening.
The suspect was taken into police custody and faces potential charges of aggravated assault. She was brought to hospital to undergo a full medical assessment.
“Five persons who were residing in the home at the time of the attack are being provided with RCMP Victim Services,” O’Donaghey says in the release. “They have been vacated from the residence, for the time being, to allow police to continue their investigation.”
