KELOWNA - A year-long investigation into drug trafficking in Kelowna has netted police a staggering number of arrests and charges.

Kelowna RCMP say in a media release the Downtown Enforcement Unit ran an investigation from April 2018 to March 2019 which resulted in 95 arrests and 172 charges.

The year-long investigation focused on drug trafficking in Kelowna, particularly the downtown core. Police say over 20 officers proactively sought drug dealers in order to reduce crime.

RCMP say Crown counsel approved 172 charges against the 95 suspects. All offences that resulted in charges were connected to the downtown core. Fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine were among the drugs seized during the investigation.
