THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - A recent survey has named Kelowna as the most entrepreneurial community in Canada.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business surveyed and ranked Canadian municipalities.
“It’s a great tool for communities and business owners to gauge what’s working and what’s not when it comes to laying the groundwork for entrepreneurial growth,” CFIB chief economist Ted Mallett says in a media release. “It’s like a snapshot in time that reflects business confidence and government policies that shape the business landscape.”
The rankings are based on entrepreneurship indicators like the number of self-employed people per total employed, business establishments per capita, business property tax rates and overall optimism, according to the release by the CFIB.
Kelowna was ranked above Toronto periphery, which came in second and higher than Barrie, Ont., which came in third place.
Kelowna beat out other fellow B.C. metropolitan areas like Victoria, Abbotsford, Vancouver periphery and the City of Vancouver.
