A search party for missing woman Shannon White is scheduled for the end of the month in the Heffley Creek area.

The event is hosted by Heather Shtuka, mother of missing man Ryan Shtuka, and she is calling on the public to volunteer.

“We are looking for volunteers to join Shannon White's family and friends in their ongoing search for her,” she said in the online event post. “This is also an area that we would love to canvas for Ryan as well.”

White, 32, went missing on Nov. 21, 2021 after leaving her home in Lower Sahali to drive to work. That same day her Jeep was seen leaving Kamloops west on Highway 1 for a 45-minute period. Later that day the Jeep was seen travelling north past Rayleigh on Highway 5, near Heffley Creek.

Kamloops Search and Rescue initially searched the Heffley Creek area.

Both families have continued to search for their missing loved ones since, with help from friends and community members.

“Come for the day or half-day to help two families desperately searching,” Shtuka said in the post.

The search is taking place on Sunday, June 26 at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are to meet at the staging area which is in an open field behind the Heffley dump. The field is accessed by turning left onto the dirt road leading to the dump and following it to the parking area.

Experienced search and rescue volunteer Mike Ritcey will be on site to direct volunteers.

“If anyone has quads that would be a great help,” Shtuka said. “Two-way radios and metal detectors are an asset.”

Hi-vis vests, water and marking tape will be provided.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring bug spray, sunscreen, hats, layered clothing and proper footwear.
