Kamloops RCMP safely detain agitated, naked man

FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS – A 51-year-old man was taken to Royal Inland Hospital early this morning after he was found hanging naked from a retaining wall in downtown Kamloops.

RCMP say they were getting calls at about 5 a.m. today, June 26, about a naked man walking on Columbia Street near 1 Avenue who was “displaying angry behaviour.”

Officers arrived to find the agitated man hanging from a retaining wall about 10 feet off the sidewalk, according to an RCMP media release. Eastbound traffic on Columbia was stopped so police could detain the man safely.

“The 51-year-old male was apprehended without incident and taken to Royal Inland Hospital to be assessed as his behaviour appeared to be related to medical issues rather than criminal activity,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.
