Kamloops RCMP arrest suspect in North Shore murder

KAMLOOPS – RCMP have arrested a suspect this morning, six weeks after a murder outside a Kamloops sushi restaurant on the city's North Shore.

RCMP say just after 8 a.m., March 6, officers from the Serious Crime Unit arrested a 32-year-old man for murder.

On the evening of Jan. 22, a 30-year-old man was assaulted outside Hatsuki Sushi on Tranquille Road. He was rushed to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

The owner of the restaurant told iNFOnews.ca the man had been stabbed.

At the time RCMP said the event was not random and there was a connection between the victim and the suspect. Police also said they knew who the suspect was, but would not release his name.

RCMP still haven’t released the name of the victim or indicated whether or not a weapon was used in the murder.

In a media release issued today, police say more details will be forthcoming tomorrow once the suspect has been charged in connection to the homicide.
