Kamloops Long Blades Speed Skating Club at the CanWest short track speed skating championship

KAMLOOPS  - Martina Antifay and Cameron Thomas had a successful weekend competing at the CanWest Short Track Speed Skating Championship in Saskatoon. CanWest brings together the top 11 to 15-year-old short track speed skaters from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

In addition to silver medals in the 200m and the 400m races, Martina placed 5th in the 1500m, and 5th in the 3000m points race. Martina had two personal bests and received the bronze medal overall in the 13 year old girls category.

In the 12-year-old boys category, Cameron had four top 10 finishes, including 7th in the 200m, 9th in the 1500m, 9th in the 2000m points race and 10th in the 400m. Cameron placed 10th overall and had four personal bests.

Martina and Cameron helped BC win the overall provincial points title.
