KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue extinguished a camper fire this afternoon.

Platoon captain Mike Haines says they received a call at about 12:37 p.m. today, June 14, of a structure fire at 1250 Salish Road, and responded with three fire engines and a water tender.

"The first crew on scene determined the fire was not actually at a residence it was in an RV parked behind a residence," Haines says, adding the trailer was being used as a home.

The camper trailer was completely destroyed and there was some damage to the outside of the nearby house due to the heat.

Haines says firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and spent an hour cooling hot spots. They stayed on scene for approximately an hour and a half.

A fire prevention officer is currently investigating the cause.
