Kamloops fire crews respond to North Shore blaze

Smoke could be seen from an apparent fire on Kamloops' North Shore around 8 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2017.

KAMLOOPS - Fire crews in Kamloops are responding to a blaze on the city's North Shore.

Around 8 p.m. a thick grey smoke could be seen billowing from an area on the north side of Kamloops. Reports indicate the smoke was coming from a unit in the 200 block of Royal Avenue.

Shortly after the smoke was spotted, several fire engines and at least one RCMP cruiser were seen racing from the south shore to Royal Avenue.

Just a few minutes after crews arrived, an explosion was heard from the south side of the city.

Crews attacked the blaze and by approximately 8:20 p.m. there was no more smoke seen from the area.

At the time of publication, no one at Kamloops Fire Rescue was available to speak to iNFOnews.ca.
