KAMLOOPS - A local couple who only recently started playing the lottery were shocked to find out the tenth ticket they bought won them $500,000.

Michael Ellis purchased the winning Lotto Max ticket at the Kelowna Husky Market when he was passing through Kelowna for work, according to a media release.

His girlfriend Jessica Sandry is glad she reminded him to buy it.

“I’m shocked we won because this is only the tenth ticket I have ever bought,” Ellis says in the release.

The couple have decided to invest the money in their future. They plan to pay off the mortgage on their house and make some investments.

“We don’t plan on buying anything right now,” Sandry says.
