PENTICTON - John Fogerty probably wasn't Born on a Boyou unless Berkely California's climate was far wetter back in 1948, but his years with Creedence Clearwater Revival suggest there was something about the sound of swamp pop to capture his soul — and he's bringing that sound to Penticton in November.
Fogerty's "Creedence Clearwater Revival - 1969" concert tour is coming to the South Okanagan Events Centre Nov. 27, 2014.
In 1969 Fogerty wrote and produced three seminal albums with CCR, 'Bayou Country', 'Green River' and 'Willy and the Poor Boys'. Songs like Proud Mary, Born on the Boyou, Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Down on the Corner and Forunate Son propelled CCR to number one world-wide and established Fogerty's reputation as an elite singer/songwriter.
The songs were creatively inspired and written during a time of world social and political upheaval. While Fogerty will concentrate on 1969, he'll include many other songs from his catologue of hits.
Though CCR broke up in 1972, Fogerty moved on to a successful solo career. In 1975 he released the album 'John Fogerty', including the hit Rockin' All Over the World. In 1985 the album 'Centrefield' was launched with three hits, The Old Man Down the Road, Rock and Roll Girls and Centrefield. His success continued into the 90's, with a Grammy for Best Rock Album for 'Blue Moon Swamp'. Fogerty has multiple awards and honours to his name.
At 68, Fogerty isn't slowing down. He released Wrote a Song for Everyone in 2013 and his current Canadian tour will make 16 stops coast to coast between November 8 - 29.
