Details on the latest major motion picture production filmed in the Thompson-Nicola region have been released by the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission.

Starring Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russel, the upcoming Apple TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was filmed at a location in Blue Sky Country between Cache Creek and Walhachin in 2022, according a film commission media release issued today, Nov. 1.

The series includes a battle between Godzilla and the Titans and follows a family as they uncover a buried secret that links them to an organization known as Monarch. It’s the largest production to film in the region since Jurassic World Dominion.

“Viewers should keep a particularly close eye on Episode 3 of this series, where many will recognize some familiar landscapes that embody Hollywood’s desire for filming in our region,” said Terri Hadwin TNRD Film Commissioner in the release.

Episodes 1 and 2 premiere on November 17 and new episodes will be released each Friday until January 12.

“Each year, we also know that this area continues to be a landmark for so many different productions,” Hadwin said. “The unique locations and diverse scenery of the Thompson-Nicola region provide unmatched opportunities for filming, and the (film commission) looks forward to supporting many more film productions to come.”
