ENDERBY - Hollywood stars could be returning to the Okanagan this summer for a special movie premiere of Blackway, formerly known as Go With Me.

The film features Sir Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles, Ray Liotta and Alexander Ludwig and was produced by Rick Dugdale of Enderby Entertainment. It was filmed exclusively in the North Okanagan, with many scenes shot in Enderby, Dugdale’s hometown.

While the film will be known in other parts of the world as Go With Me — the title of the novel the movie is based on — North America will know it as Blackway, after Ray Liotta’s character.

“It came across more sinister, more suspenseful, where as Go With Me came across as a romantic comedy,” Dugdale says, on the phone from Panama where he’s scouting locations for a new movie.

Blackway is about a young woman, played by Stiles, who returns to her hometown only to be harassed by an ex-cop turned crime lord, played by Liotta. She turns to a former logger, played by Hopkins, to help her stand up to her stalker.

The film hits theatres June 10 in North America, and Dugdale says details are being worked out for a special premiere event in the North Okanagan.

“We’ll hopefully fill the theatre on the night it premieres,” Dugdale says. “I’ll be here, a whole group of us will be coming up for it. Hopefully we’ll include some of the main participants of the film.”

Enderby locals were treated to a sneak peak of the movie when Dugdale was home for Christmas this year, and he says the audience was quite excited to see familiar landmarks on the screen.

“It was pretty special, and neat to hear people more interested in seeing locations around Enderby than the actual movie. People need to see it again for the movie,” Dugdale says with a chuckle.

Meanwhile, Dugdale is coming back to the Okanagan in the next few weeks to scout locations for another film that would tentatively shoot in August and September.

“It’s potentially a Blackway-type cast,” Dugdale says. “That just came up. We’re looking at Manitoba and B.C. for that film.”

You can watch a trailer for the Hopkins film below, although Dugdale says it’s a Scandinavian trailer and uses the name Go With Me.

“There will be different artwork coming out, possibly a different trailer for Blackway,” Dugdale says.
