KAMLOOPS - If you are just starting to think about decorating your home for Christmas then you may want to take in the Homes for the Holidays tour this weekend to get some tips from the pros.
The tour, a key fundraiser for the local United Way, features homes decorated for the holidays by local designers. This year homes in Sun Rivers, Barnhartvale, Aberdeen and the West End will be decorated by Dee Baillie Interior Design (new this year), Tyler O’Hara of Defining Decor (also new this year), Carmen How, Anthony Salituro and Portfolio Interiors.
Kathy Underwood of Portfolio Interiors is again heading the decorating team at a show home in Sun Rivers. She says the feedback they got last year was amazing and there was no question about helping out with such a great cause again this year.
She enjoys the challenge of decorating an entire house and getting to play with new looks. This year an entire room in the home is dedicated to a peacock theme while another features burlap mixed with silver in a more natural look. Underwood says both looks are proving popular this year and she looks forward to seeing what the other designers have picked up as trends to watch.
Tours will take place Saturday, Nov. 22 at noon and 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 23 at noon. Tickets are available at the Royal Bank (any location in Kamloops and Merritt) or online. Mittz Kitchens will be providing appetizers for the tour and the reception will be held at the Old Kamloops Courthouse.
