Original Publication Date June 25, 2016 - 12:15 PM

KAMLOOPS - Police now have two men in custody after a gun was discharged during a fight near Thompson Rivers University this morning.

Kamloops RCMP found one man, believed to be the one wielding the weapon in short order. But they evacuated the building in the 700 block of McGill Road while they negotiated with the second man. Spokesperson Sgt. Lorne Wood thanked residents for their cooperation through the process and asks anyone who witnessed the events to call police.

The two men were seen fighting outside an apartment building around 11:20 a.m. June 25. In a release, Sgt. Lorne Wood said witnesses said one of the men produced a handgun and fired it.
