PENTICTON - Police have descended in large numbers on a townhouse complex near the South Okanagan Events Centre where shots were fired this morning.
Police say they found a dead man at the complex in 900 block of Creston Avenue and they have begun a homicide investigation.
Several police cars and uniformed officers are out front of the complex on the corner of Comox Street and Creston Avenue. The building is blocked off with police tape and their attention appears to be on one unit that is largely covered with a black tarp.
Penticton RCMP Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police were called at 10:30 a.m. today, April 26, to the address for reports of shots fired. Police arrived to find one man dead on scene.
A suspect was found nearby and arrested without incident. He is currently in custody. A firearm was seized. Serious crimes and forensic processing units are investigating and witnesses are being questioned.
RCMP say the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.
Police have cordoned off a housing complex at Comox St and Creston Ave this morning, Wednesday, April 26.
