Gordon Drive between KLO and Ladner roads will be surfaced within the next three weeks.
Beginning today, crews are working intermittently to prepare the road by cleaning, sweeping, sealing cracks and completing some minor shoulder repairs. Expect delays as short-term lane closures or detours will occur until the roadworks expected completion on Friday Aug. 16.
Lane closures will be in effect for north and southbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 7, Aug. 15 and Aug. 16. Traffic pattern changes will be in effect and two-way traffic will be maintained.
Motorists can expect delays and encouraged to plan their commute.
For the purpose of public safety and quality control, traffic control personnel will be directing motorists and local residents to stay off the newly treated road segments until they have sufficiently cured. The public's cooperation and patience will be appreciated.
This work is part of the City of Kelowna's 2013 pavement management program which will re-surface approximately 19 kilometres involving nine different road segments.
