PENTICTON - The Bachelorette is being wooed by a former Penticton man and Thompson Rivers University graduate.
A contestant on The Bachelorette, ABC’s romance-based reality TV show, Daniel Maguire attended Penticton Secondary School before becoming a psychology graduate from the Kamloops university, according to his Facebook profile.
The 31-year-old Vancouver model is one of 26 men vying for the attention of one woman, Jojo Fletcher, in the new season of the dating game.
He graduated from Penticton in 2003 and six years later finished university in Kamloops with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Maguire has already made headlines after producers listed his occupation as ‘Canadian’ and an awkward interaction with Fletcher after he referenced a viral video. He did make it past the first episode though, which aired Monday, May 23. TV Guide has called him ‘Zoolanderish’ and MTV has written he’s the show’s ‘villain’ this season.
It's not the first Okanagan connection to the popular reality series. Jillian Harris, a contestant on the Bachelor, then the Bachelorette, used to live in the Central Okanagan.
