Four Kamloops Blazers picked up in NHL entry draft

The Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League and the West Kelowna Warriors of the B.C. Hockey League had a lot to offer the NHL this year. The two teams have a total of seven players who were picked in the NHL entry draft this week. 

Blazers forward Fraser Minten was selected 38th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Minten scored 55 points in 67 games during the 2021-2022 regular season with Kamloops, and 15 points in 16 games during the playoffs.

In round four, Blazers defenseman Mats Lindgren was picked 106 overall by the Buffalo Sabres. During the last regular season he scored 44 points in 68 games, and in the playoffs he got seven points in 17 games.

In the seventh round, Kamloops forward Daylan Kuefler was chosen by 174th overall by the New York Islanders. He scored 59 points in 65 regular season games and seven in 17 playoff games.

Also in round seven, the Dallas Stars chose Blazers forward Matthew Seminoff at 179th overall. He tallied 57 points in 64 regular season games, and nine points in 17 playoff games.

A resident of Vernon was also drafted. Ben King, a forward for the WHL's Red Deer Rebels, was taken 107th overall in the fourth round. He had 105 points in 68 game last regular season, and 10 points in as many playoff games.

As for the BCHL, West Kelowna Warriors centre Ben MacDonald was selected in the third round, 91st overall, by the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken also drafted Warriors defenceman Tyson Jugnauth 100th overall in the fourth round. And Warriors centre Luke Devlin was picked 182nd overall in the sixth round by the Pittsburgh Penguins
