ENDERBY - High school students in Enderby were evacuated this afternoon due to a fire.

North Okanagan Shuswap School District communications officer Alice Hucul says all staff and students were safely evacuated after the fire broke out at A.L. Fortune Secondary this afternoon, April 8.

“The fire is in one part of the school but classes will not resume today because of the smoke. The school is currently trying to arrange for early bus transportation home for students,” Hucul says.

“Thanks to students, staff, the Enderby fire department and RCMP for their quick, caring and professional response.”

No word yet know what caused the fire, or what the damage is to the school.
