Fighter jets flying over Kamloops this afternoon as part of Blazers military appreciation night

KAMLOOPS - Before the crowds are roaring in the Sandman Centre at tonight's junior hockey game, a pair of jet fighters will roar through the sky over the arena.

The jets from the 419 Tactical Fighter Squadron based out of Cold Lake, Alta. will be doing a flyover today, Nov. 2, in advance of tonight’s Blazers game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The squadron is connected to Kamloops through John “Moose” Fulton, the first commander of the squadron in World War 2, and are sometimes called the City of Kamloops squadron.

The jets will be passing over the downtown area around 4 p.m.

In addition to the flyover, members of the military will rappel from the rafters, 500 veterans and their families will attend, vehicles used by the Rocky Mountain Rangers will be on display at 5:30 p.m. and pregame ceremonies will include high ranking officers.

Special jerseys from the game will be auctioned off before Nov. 11. with proceeds going to the Royal Canadian Legion Fund.
